VDS Provides Social TV Enhancements to CBS Sports Gametrax Ticker

VDS has delivered new, dynamic features to CBS for their Gametrax Ticker system. The CBS Gametrax system is used to support Football and Basketball games broadcast by CBS Sports.
The Gametrax ticker system, provided to CBS Sports by VDS, features a single bar at the bottom of the screen for the display of sports news, game schedules, live game data and statistics, fantasy stats and other information. The system also features a “Score Alert” function, which is used to alert fans when a team has scored in a specific game being played.
For the 2011 football season, VDS added a new Social Media feature with the integration of the VDS Soapbox Social Media Gateway. This feature allows CBS production personnel to automatically insert Twitter messages into the on-air Gametrax ticker.
Another key feature of the 2011 football season describes the specific play that resulted in an updated score whenever the “Score Alert” function is used. This new feature helps fans stay on top of the action in multiple games while watching their locally broadcast game.
The core architecture for the CBS Gametrax Ticker is the VDS GameTrak Ticker suite, which was developed to provide broadcasters and cable companies with powerful tools to present sports news, scores and statistics.
Each GameTrak system incorporates off-the-shelf VDS modules that can be customized to address the specific requirements of each GameTrak customer. With this approach VDS can quickly address the unique requirements of each customer including operation, workflow and on-air ticker design.
